2014 News

April 26-27, 2014 - Clear Lake

Some of the best kickboat, float tube, and kayak anglers in the west came together on Clear Lake to slug it out and see who would take home the crown for the 14th annual Bass-n-Tubes 'Clear Lake Open'.

Day 1 had some big bags come to the scale with six limits over 20 pounds.
Dan Balaba would lead at the end of the day with a huge sack of bass weighing in at 25.66 pounds.
Holding down second place on the day one leader board was Jason Cullen with an impressive 22.34 pounds for his best five.
Anthony Lunares would leave the scale on day one in the third position with another fat limit for 22.02 pounds. Fourth place would be Dan Chester with a 21.87 pound limit. And 2004 open champ Mike Ayers rounded out the day one top five with 21.42 pounds.
The day one big fish was a fat 7.04 pound bass caught by last years open winner Robert Middleton.

Day 2 dawned and the anglers made the way back to their spots. It was another impressive day at the scale.
At the end of the day it was Jon Graves, who had a monster limit of 26.25 pounds on day two to move from seventh place to the top of the leaderboard, with a 2 day total weight of 45.97 pounds to take his second 'Open" title.
Jon's weight set a new record total weight for the Clear Lake Open, eclipsing the old record of 45.66 pounds, which was set in 2012.
Jon also had the day two big fish with a 8.94 pounder, that ate a drop shot.
Dave Sternitzke came in with 21.96 pounds on day 2 to jump from sixth on day one to take a second place finish with a total weight of 42.74 pounds.
Finishing the weekend in third place was Jason Cullen, who fished consistently both days to end up with 41.49 pounds of Clear Lake bass.
Fourth place would go to Mike Ayers with 41.21 pounds to finish off his weekend.
Rounding out the top 8 paying positions were, 5th place Dan Chester with 37.92 pounds, Robert Middleton in 6th with 33.29 pounds, Deren Kozenko had 33.29 for 7th and Matt Niyri took 8th with 32.86 pounds of fish for the two days.

The Saturday evening festivities were the usual fun with the raffle. Thanks to Oscar Baeza for putting it together. We had a pile of great prizes to give way again, thanks to all of our sponsors.
